Yo Rocko!

DF, DC and I went and saw Rocky Balboa. We decided we need a male bonding testosterone fueled night of entertainment. Watching the new Rocky film is about as macho as we get. And surprisingly enough it was actually really good. Most people think the Rocky films are a bit of a joke. They think about Mr. T's prancing (Rocky 3), Dolph Lungdren and his cold eyes (Rocky 4) and lets not even mention Rocky 5. But people forget just how good the first two films are. Rocky 1 is very gritty and a great feel good movie. A low level Philly strong arm for the Mafia and part time boxer (with a heart of gold none the less) gets a random chance to fight the heavyweight champion of the world. Superb. Hell it even won Oscars (quite controversially). Rocky Balboa is a return to the first two movies in that it is less a circus of silliness and more back to the roots that made the original films so good.

So afterwards the three of us threw on our grey tracksuits, ran through the streets, climbing stairs, arms pumped up in the air, feeling like champions. We tried to find a meat market to have a quick work out, but to no avail. Eye of the Tiger is now on rotation on my Ipod along side the theme song.

There are quite a few movie cliches which you think they are going to smash into but they neatly side step all of them. If you want to feel good again go and see it. I guarantee once the theme music kicks in and the training montage is in full swing, you will puff your chest out and want to and shadow box.
