Board Monday

Last night I set up my new snowboard. This basically amounts to putting on my new bindings and making the necessary adjustments. You set the angles on your bindings (ie the angle to which your foot is to the heel side of your board), adjust the high back on your bindings, and adjust the straps to accommodate your boots. If you aren't in to this it is a simple quick process. I LOVE doing it. I take hours painstakingly getting it all right. Part of the reason is that it reminds me of snowboarding and the whole maintenance side means you are close to being on the slopes. I like taking a long time because it makes me think of all the fun I am going to have. And also because I am incredibly anal and have to adjust and re-adjust until it all feels perfect.

I also like doing it because it is slightly manual. I sit at a desk with a keyboard and mouse for most of my day, so it feels good to hold a screwdriver every now and again. It is hardly as if I am duilding a wardrobe with my bare hands, but it still feels good to doing something slight manly (ahem).

But I mainly enjoy doing it and taking my time because I am a geek.

Fantastic.
