Before Sunset

So last night I eventually watched Before Sunset, Richard Linklater's sequel to Before Sunrise. It was a very very good film, although the fucking annoying ending stopped it from becoming a great film. I know the first one ended with open questions, but the sequel literally finishes before anything whatsoever is answered.

However quite a few things did strike a chord. Linklater's characters both failed to find true love after their brief liaison nine years before. Julie Delpy's character mentions that when you are young you frivolously discard relationships and love because you believe there will be so many other people you will connect with throughout your life. In reality you will only meet a handful in your life. This is a major fear of mine as I have mentioned before - blowing those opportunities at happiness only to realise to late. It was quite scary to see my thoughts projected and become the core idea behind Before Sunset. At least I am not alone and I know other people feel this way as well. Maybe it is in the arms of other such disenchanted people we will find what we are hoping and looking for. I bloody hope so anyway.
